What Makes Surveying in Sanpete County Different
Pioneer townsites, mountain cabin plats and irrigated farm ground, all in one valley.
- Pioneer townsite plats. Manti, Ephraim, Mount Pleasant, Spring City and Gunnison were laid out in large Plat A blocks. After 150 years of splits and resales, fences, deeds and the plat rarely agree exactly, so we weigh the record against the monuments we can still find.
- Mountain cabin subdivisions. Lots in Aspen Hills, Whispering Pines, Hideaway Valley, Pine Creek and Skyline Mountain Resort sit on steep, wooded ground. Older cabin plats often have few surviving monuments, and snow limits the season.
- Farm ground and water. Ag splits, canal and ditch easements and well proofs (90 since 2000) are a big share of our Sanpete work.
- Steady growth. New homes around Ephraim, Manti and Mount Pleasant mean lot splits and small subdivisions, which is why Sanpete has more plats in our files than any other county.
- Creeks and flood zones. Low ground along valley creeks can fall in FEMA-mapped flood zones. See elevation certificates.
