What Shapes a Carbon County Survey?
Coal-town lots, canyon ground, plateau cabins and open desert.
- Old town and company plats. Price, Helper and the old coal camps grew from town plats and company townsites. Fences and buildings often sit off the record lines after a century of changes.
- Canyon and river ground. In Helper and Spring Glen, narrow lots sit between the Price River, the railroad and the highway. Flood zones and rights-of-way shape what can be built.
- Plateau cabins and snow. Scofield and Clear Creek lots sit at high elevation, where snow limits the season and older cabin plats have few surviving monuments.
- Section-line acreage. Outside town, parcels are described by section and aliquot part, so recovering section corners comes first, like our 2026 section-line survey near Scofield.
- Energy and mining. Mines, rail and utility corridors cross the county; our engineer has worked on mining projects in the area.

Carbon County Survey Questions, Answered.
How much does a land survey cost in Carbon County?
A boundary survey on a recorded subdivision lot typically runs $1,025 to $1,800, and an older town lot $1,800 to $2,500 or more. Parcels of 1 to 5 acres usually run $2,000 to $4,000, and larger tracts more. Topographic surveys run $1,500 to $4,500, ALTA/NSPS surveys $3,000 to $8,000 or more, and elevation certificates $400 to $700. Travel is shown as its own line on every fixed-fee quote.
Do you survey in Carbon County from Nephi?
Yes. Price is about an hour and a half from our Nephi office, and Scofield is closer by way of the Fairview canyon road in summer. We've completed 26 projects in Carbon County since 2002, including boundaries in Price in 2025 and 2026.
How long does a survey take in Carbon County?
Most boundary surveys take one to three weeks, topographic surveys one to four weeks, and ALTA surveys three to six weeks. Scofield and plateau properties depend on snow; we schedule them for the open season.
Is my survey filed with Carbon County?
Yes. Utah law requires a boundary survey map to be filed with the county surveyor within 90 days of establishing or re-establishing a boundary (Utah Code § 17-73-504). For Carbon County that's in Price, the county seat.
Can you survey my Scofield cabin lot?
Yes. We've surveyed townsite lots, cabin parcels and acreage around Scofield and Clear Creek, plus a section-line survey in 2026. Older cabin plats often have few surviving monuments, so we quote after reviewing the plat.
Do you do flood elevation certificates in Carbon County?
Yes, for homes near the Price River and its tributaries, including Price and Spring Glen.
