What Shapes an Iron County Survey?
Old town blocks, fast growth, mountain lots and development sites.
- Town blocks. Parowan, Paragonah and Cedar City’s older neighborhoods were laid out in large blocks. After a century and a half of splits, fences and deeds rarely match the plat exactly.
- Growth around Cedar City and Enoch. New subdivisions and commercial sites mean lenders want ALTA surveys and cities want site plans tied to accurate topography and utilities.
- Brian Head lots. Steep, wooded lots at over 9,000 feet need boundary and topo together, and snow limits the field season.
- Survey to design. Our surveyors and our engineer work in one office, so a topo and utility survey goes straight into the concept and site plan.
- Distance. We group Iron County fieldwork into trips and show travel as its own line on the quote.

Iron County Questions, Answered.
Do you survey in Iron County?
Yes. Parowan is about two and a quarter hours from our Nephi office, within our regular range of about two and a half hours. We've done ALTA surveys in Cedar City and topographic, utility and site-plan work in Parowan.
How much does a land survey cost in Iron County?
A boundary survey on a recorded subdivision lot typically runs $1,025 to $1,800, and an older town lot $1,800 to $2,500 or more. Parcels of 1 to 5 acres usually run $2,000 to $4,000, and larger tracts more. Topographic surveys run $1,500 to $4,500 and ALTA/NSPS surveys $3,000 to $8,000 or more. Travel is shown as its own line on every fixed-fee quote.
Can you do the survey and the site plan together?
Yes. That's how our 2024 Parowan project worked: we did the topographic and utility survey, then our engineer, J. Brett Ludlow, PE, prepared the concept and site plans from it. One office means no hand-off between surveyor and engineer.
How long does a survey take in Iron County?
Most boundary surveys take one to three weeks, topographic surveys one to four weeks, and ALTA surveys three to six weeks. Brian Head lots depend on snow. We group Iron County fieldwork into trips, so tell us your deadline when you ask for a quote.
Is my survey filed with Iron County?
Yes. Utah law requires a boundary survey map to be filed with the county surveyor within 90 days of establishing or re-establishing a boundary (Utah Code § 17-73-504). For Iron County that's in Parowan, the county seat.
Should I use a Cedar City surveyor instead?
For a quick corner check on one residential lot, a surveyor based in Cedar City may cost less in travel. We're a good fit for ALTA surveys, site and development projects that need a surveyor and an engineer together, and owners with property elsewhere in Utah.
Need a Survey or Site Plan in Iron County?
