A 2.5-Acre Hillside Parcel

A steep parcel along a gravel mountain road, with a two-track road crossing it. The crew found existing rebar from earlier surveys at three corners, tied elevations to the county’s monument for the section’s quarter corner, and mapped tight contours across the slope. A waterline that isn’t on county maps is noted on the drawing rather than guessed at.

What Shapes a Salt Lake County Survey?

Old city blocks, commercial title work and new subdivisions on the valley’s edges.

  • Old Salt Lake City blocks. The original city was laid out in large ten-acre blocks on Plats A, B and beyond. A century and a half of splits leaves fences, deeds and the plat out of step, as on our 2026 lots near Liberty Park.
  • Lender-driven ALTA work. Commercial purchases and refinances along I-15, I-215 and the business parks need ALTA/NSPS surveys with the lender’s Table A items. Send the title commitment early.
  • Foothills and benches. Lots above Draper, Sandy, Herriman and the southwest county bring steep ground and dense contours, so boundary and topo usually go together.
  • Canals and utilities. Canal corridors run through Murray, Taylorsville and the west side. Crossings and easements need surveyed descriptions.
  • Fast growth on the edges. Riverton, Herriman, South Jordan and West Jordan have new plats that are easier to retrace, but tight setbacks leave little room for error on fences, additions and pools.
